Unlock the Power of Exploration Wherever You Are.

The Explorer's Guide to Life translates traits and strategies from explorers so that anyone, anywhere can overcome challenges and make every day better.

Thankfully, the cruise company’s hiring manager couldn’t tell I was lying. If she did, I never would have been able to chase a new version of myself over the horizon—as a woefully inept assistant small ship cruise director. Since that year, working in eight countries, meeting thousands of curious travelers, (and learning not to mumble so much in front of them), I’ve explored just about every facet of travel industry.

Next up: developing and managing land and ship-based expeditions for Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic in Alaska, Canada, Central America, and Newfoundland. Then creating compelling content for Seatrade Cruise Global, and designing voyages for EYOS Expeditions' private yacht clients.

Now, with a home base and young family, I’m out to connect explorer’s wisdom with everyday challenges. Why? Because climbing real or metaphorical mountains often takes the same skills. I want to see how far that idea takes us—together.

Why Explorers?

What does Magellan know about my two kids and mortgage? Who cares if some teenager climbs K2 if I can’t find a job?

Because all explorers face the unknown, setbacks, self-doubt, fear, financial struggles, loneliness, isolation, and being told “no” time and time again. They find ways to succeed, to move forward, and in doing so, explore as much of what it means to be human as they do the world around them.

We are here to present their wisdom in such a way that someone who hasn’t traveled beyond their neighborhood gets as many applicable lessons to improve their life as the biggest jet setters in the world.

Who You'll Meet

We are excited to share a diverse set of voices and perspectives in the world of exploration, including many that have long been diminished or excluded entirely. New insights will come from new voices. And we’ll dig deeper into history’s greats too, making new connections to today’s challenges.

You’ll be surprised at how many explorers deliver hard-earned wisdom from one corner of the world that you can use to improve yours. (Though you will also meet historical figures whose characteristics you’ll learn to avoid at all costs!)
